PreMac Foods: Reinventing Noodles with a Healthy, Millet-Based Twist

Concerned about the impact of regular noodles—often made with maida and artificial flavoring—on children’s digestion, Prema C from Brindavan Nagar, Coimbatore, set out to create a healthier alternative. While working as a school teacher, she observed that many children frequently fell ill after consuming maida-based noodles. Realizing that eliminating noodles entirely wasn’t practical, given their popularity among children, she chose to reimagine this everyday favorite into a more nutritious option.

Quitting her teaching job, Prema sought training across Coimbatore and Chennai only to find most programs focused on maida-based recipes. Determined to find a truly healthy alternative, she began experimenting at home with millet flour. After three months of trial and error, she successfully developed noodles made entirely from small grains, free of maida and artificial additives.
